PM Modi’s Spiritual Sojourn: A Divine Pause at Lepakshi Temple, Andhra Pradesh

In a soul-soothing gesture ahead of the historic ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Veerabhadra Temple in Lepakshi, Andhra Pradesh. The 16th-century temple, nestled in the Sri Sathya Sai District, witnessed the Prime Minister adorned in traditional attire, immersing himself in spiritual moments.

A video shared by news agency ANI captured a serene Prime Minister, eyes closed and hands joined, as he sang the ‘Shri Ram Jai Ram’ bhajan during the aarti at the ancient temple. The harmonious sight unfolded with the temple priests joining the divine chorus, creating an atmosphere of collective reverence. The video concluded with PM Modi gracefully bowing, a symbolic culmination to the spiritually charged moment.

Prior to this enchanting musical interlude, another video showcased PM Modi performing aarti for the deity and absorbing the verses from the Ranganatha Ramayan in Telugu. The Veerabhadra Temple, dedicated to the fiery avatar of Lord Shiva, holds significance not only for its historical charm but also for its spiritual resonance.

Legend intertwines with the temple’s sacred walls, as it is believed that when the eagle, Jatayu, attempted to rescue Goddess Sita from Ravana’s clutches, he was wounded and fell at this very spot. It was here that Lord Rama, in his quest for Sita, encountered Jatayu and uttered the words “Le Pakshi” in Telugu, meaning “Rise, O Bird.” In the poignant exchange, Jatayu conveyed vital information about Sita’s abduction by Ravana.

Beyond its mythological roots, the Lepakshi temple houses shrines dedicated to various deities, including Papanasheshwara, Raghunatha, Bhadrakali, and more, contributing to its spiritual significance.

During his visit to Andhra Pradesh, PM Modi inaugurated the new campus of the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics in Sri Sathya Sai District. This visit reflects not only a commitment to administrative functions but also a reverence for the cultural and spiritual heritage of the nation.

As the nation eagerly anticipates the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony at the Ram Temple, PM Modi’s spiritual sojourn at the Veerabhadra Temple resonates as a poignant pause, encapsulating the essence of faith and tradition.
